Happy Birthday, Helga! One of my favorite writers Jim Murray wrote this about his wife after she passed away. It reminds me of you.
"God loved Gerry. Everybody loved Gerry. She never went 40 seconds without smiling in her life. She smiled at life and all the people in it. When you thought of Gerry, you smiled.
She had these big gorgeous brown eyes and they were merry all the time and they looked at you with such trust and happiness. She never looked down or away. She never did anything to be ashamed of. Nothing. Never. She never did anything she didn't think God wanted her to do. She was in charge of smiling for Him."
There is more, but it puts a lump in my throat. I am at peace that you aren't with us, but I still miss you.

Ok, I will be the first person to submit two entries. But I forgot to mention something in my earlier post.
Through other activities, I have become acquainted with Helga’s reading partner at Hamilton, Frances Werking. I believe that Helga and Frances worked together to teach reading to their respective classes. Frances was really broken up after Helga’s accident. They were quite good friends and colleagues.
Frances was informed in late January that she was a finalist for Teacher of the Year in Pasadena Unified. I think it is a fair bet that her reading partner was one of the people who nominated her.
Last month, Frances won Pasadena Teacher of the Year. As we know, Helga only associated with the best people. :-)

Hey, you. I don't need to ask what you got for a birthday present - this awesome tribute site!! And more love and affectionate wishes sent your way than would seem fair for any person, but which is entirely appropriate for you. I remember that you told me that someone took you to a Madonna concert for your 30th birthday. So what did you do for 32 - Tupac? Elvis, perhaps? I hope you danced til you dropped. Or perhaps you cornered Picasso for some artistic guidance. Or maybe you got one of those very cool decorated chairs we saw the King Tut exhibit. At any rate, happy birthday, h3bear! We love you and miss you very much.
